Good Morning Wake Up – Awake Week 4

Dear Friend,

Awake

Have you ever wondered why your brain won’t stop thinking, especially at night? Well, your brain’s job is to keep thinking, but it’s your job to regulate, reflect, and redirect your thoughts. Nighttime can be one of the busiest times for your brain to turn on, rehash, dwell, ruminate, or even make up things that aren’t real. Check in to see what’s causing all this distraction. Is it necessary? Does it pertain to you in the moment? Is it true?

Aware

Distractions can come from almost anywhere and anything. To set yourself up for a restful sleep, take steps to eliminate external distractions. Don’t forget to pay attention to internal distractions as well. How are you feeling from the thoughts you’re having? Where are you placing your attention? Where the mind goes, energy flows. Set up your internal and external environment for success so that when you wake up in the morning, you’re refreshed and ready for your day.

Align

Excessive screen time is one of humanity’s biggest distractions. It presents many symptoms that can be the leading cause of disrupted or distracted sleep. Your screen time, whether it’s for work, emails, inspiration, or doom scrolling, could be to blame for your lack of sleep, intrusive thoughts, and overwhelm. Becoming aware and building discipline around how much screen time you use is worth your attention.

Activate

Practice shutting off your screens at least an hour before bed. Write down anything that may be bothering you, such as something you’re ready to change, something you said, or even a difficult conversation. Writing it down will help to free your mind before bed. If it requires further attention, you can return your focus to it in the morning.

Do a body scan, relaxing all body parts from your toes to your head. This will give your body permission to let go and rest. When you wake up, you’ll be prepared to tackle your day with clarity and positivity!
