Conscious Check-Ins – Self-Awareness Week 4 – Create Space to Choose Your Response

Dear Friend,

Over the past few weeks, we’ve explored how self-awareness begins with noticing what is happening within us—our body, breath, thoughts, emotions, and energy. We’ve practiced naming what we feel without judgment and using movement, grounding, and breath to shift our state.

This week, we bring these practices together by creating space between what we experience and how we respond. A thought or emotion can influence how we feel and what we want to do, but it doesn’t have to determine our next action. A simple, conscious pause can create space to notice what is happening, consider what we need, and choose a more intentional response.

Here are three one-minute practices to help students pause, reset, and choose:

minute

Breathwork

Practice a Conscious Pause

Take a moment and breathe.
Slow your breathing down to become more aware.

minute

Meditation

When Something Feels Off

Check in and notice what you are feeling.
Then ask yourself:

  • What is happening in my body?
  • What thoughts are driving these feelings?
  • What emotions or energy are present?

minute

Journal

Journal

Ask yourself:

  • What response will help me move forward towards my best self?
  • Activate by putting these responses into practice.

Self-awareness gives us the space to experience what is happening within us while choosing how we want to respond.

Practice for the week:
Pause. Breathe. Notice. Choose. Act.
