Conscious Check-Ins – Self-Awareness

Dear Friend,

Welcome to Conscious Check-Ins! Each month, we’ll explore a simple theme and share practical tips and tools you can easily bring into your classroom. Our theme for September is Self-Awareness.

Awake

Self-awareness begins with noticing. This month, we’ll practice noticing our body, breath, thoughts, emotions, strengths, needs, and patterns—building awareness so we can respond more intentionally.

Pause and turn your attention inward.

Notice:

  • Body sensations
  • Breath
  • Thoughts
  • Emotions
  • Energy

Ask yourself:
What am I noticing right now?

Aware

Self-awareness is recognizing what is happening within us. We don’t need to change or fix what we notice. The first step is simply to become aware.

Align

Practice becoming aware with this 3-Minute Check-In:

Minute 1 — Body
What do I notice? Tension, ease, warmth, movement, heaviness, or energy?

Minute 2 — Breath
Is my breath fast or slow? Deep or shallow? Smooth or uneven?

Minute 3 — Mind
What thoughts or emotions are present?

Activate

Begin class by asking:
“Take a moment to notice: How are you arriving today?”

Practice for the week:
Encourage your students to pause and notice daily.

Remember that meaningful change can begin with a simple moment of awareness!
