Calm the Butterflies and Learn from Your Past

Dear Friend,

Awake

Human beings are creatures of habit. We learn from life experiences, both good and bad. But how often do we practice what we have learned? Our brains frequently deceive us, retaining only what we choose to hold on to or believe, which is typically only 50% of the experience. To calm our butterflies, we must overcome these misconceptions. We must believe in ourselves, practice what we know to be true and continue our work.

Aware

Our thoughts generate feelings that hold us in our patterns. If an old pattern has generated a traumatic experience, the sensory connection is strong and requires effort to undo. Often, we repeat a thought or behavior, expecting to feel something new or different. When we try something new or choose to consider a new idea, it’s not a sensation we’re familiar with or accustomed to. We say to ourselves, “Something just doesn’t feel right!” It’s because the feeling is new, and we need to get used to it or connect it to our reality in some way to make it feel natural or normal.

Align

When we cross the river of change, we must remember that it takes a lot of practice and work. It’s important to have a strong desire to motivate us to reach the other side of the river. We must remind ourselves that our old way of thinking and feeling is holding us back from living our best lives and achieving our desires. Nervous energy, stress, or anxiety are all feelings based on our thoughts or past experiences. Our brains connect to our bodies through chemical transmissions. Remember, if we change our thoughts, we can change our feelings.

Activate

Activate your prefrontal cortex, which thrives on positive thoughts. These thoughts enhance brain flexibility, mental capacity, and focus. Notice where you place your attention, as it determines the flow of your energy. When you focus on the desired outcome or the result you seek, you gain the tenacity to create change. Embrace the discomfort and stay committed to your path. Changing your mind and staying true to your change prevents you from continuously reliving the past!
