Breathwork 8: Ally 2

Dear Friend,

Allyship towards marginalized groups starts with seeing the good in YOU. In this lesson on Breathwork as an Ally, you can help your students:

  • Learn to envision their future and their role in promoting personal, family, and community well-being
  • Learn to see the good in others and self

We all have good that lives inside us. Sometimes our critical mind can take over and we become impatient with ourselves. Our tolerance level goes down and we judge everything in our lives and those around us.

The following activity can help students to identify what they want for their future, especially if they want to promote allyship in their lives.

Mindfulness Activity of the Week

Write a Letter to Yourself in 10 Years

Invite students to write a letter to themselves 10 years in the future, reminding themselves about the good that they have accomplished in the world. Be specific about identifying what they want for their future.

  1. How do they envision their future self?
    Who is this person?
  2. How have they used the character traits they already have to support their personal goals?
  3. What date is it?
  4. Where do they live?
  5. Who do they surround themselves with?
  6. What are their likes or dislikes?
