Dear Friend,
Demonstrating empathy and compassion for others starts with knowing how to speak kindly to ourselves first. Empathetic communication considers the emotions and experiences of others. What about empathetic communication with the self?
Affirmations can help us learn to communicate more lovingly with ourselves. There are so many areas of our lives in which we can criticize ourselves. Whether it be with food, exercise, education, or relationships, we can say some pretty mean things in our minds.
Let’s change that! Read through the following phrases and repeat aloud the ones that resonate with you.
Ten Affirmations for Valuing Education
- Education is the gateway to my future! I make the most of my academic opportunities.
- I take charge of my education. The more I learn, the more I achieve.
- I value my education as it prepares me for a bright future.
- Learning is life. I love learning and I am good at it!
- I respect my education because it creates a more complete me.
- I am always open to learning.
- My ability to focus is increasing which is making me a peak performer.
- I am recognized as a student with immense focus and determination.
- Today I set aside my fears and achieve all my educational goals.
- Whatever I need to learn always comes at the right moment.
Breathwork Activity of the Week
Rainbow Breath
- Set a timer for 2-4 minutes and move through the colors of the rainbow with each breath.
- For example, inhale the color blue, and exhale the color blue. Inhale the color yellow, and exhale the color yellow.
- Pause momentarily after each exhale, then move on to the next color.
- Bring to mind your favorite affirmation for valuing education.
Mindfulness Activity of the Week
Positive Affirmations Before Bed
Learning to recognize strengths in others begins with recognizing strengths in yourself!
- Choose 3 strengths that you notice about yourself and write them down.
- Next, write a positive affirmation about each strength that you identified.
- Choose one affirmation per day for the next nine days. Repeat the affirmation to yourself before bed each night.
- At the end of the nine days, decide which one had the most impact on your mindset.
