Seventh Inning Stretch

Dear Friend,

Awake

The 7th inning stretch, a practice dating back to 1910, involves standing up and stretching to regain energy and focus for the remaining innings. In today’s fast-paced world, an afternoon break is essential, especially during the workday. After lunch, blood sugar levels drop, causing lethargy and mental fog. Stretching and shaking off tension and stiffness from sitting are crucial for both the body and the brain.

Aware

Building endurance to stay focused throughout the day requires practice. Finding the zone, or the brain’s capacity for flow state, where time seems to slip away, is key. Positive energy and completing projects demonstrate passion and dedication, fostering self-confidence and accumulated knowledge. We hope to learn and grow through these experiences, and how we feel physically matters! What we put in determines what we get out. Our energy is our commodity, enabling us to sustain and maintain throughout the day.

Align

Aligning your mindset to increase brain flexibility is a great way to begin noticing your patterns of operation. Some patterns and habits of behavior can cause lethargy, dissatisfaction, and discontent. Can you tap into your awareness and discern if your patterns and behaviors are working for you or against you? As you start to implement change, crossing the river of change can feel different, unusual, and place you outside of your comfort zone. This is a sign you are about to embark on a path of growth.

Moving your body equals moving your chemistry and biology to help support this change and open the door to growth. Become more aware of how your mindset and behaviors impact your level of thriving. Your ultimate joy lies on the other side of change. Embrace the discomfort, even though you know it’s right, and become comfortable with it.

Activate

Activate your brain through brain breaks to regain focus, clarity, and performance. These mental pauses help the brain and mind reduce stress and overwhelm, moving the brain out of beta mode and beyond stress to support nervous system regulation, preventing burnout. Boost your mood through playful, enjoyable tasks that shift your energy, bring on a new challenge, and lift your playful spirit.

Output is measured by input, so feed your mind and body with fuel for health and longevity. Managing your energy is a valuable skill set. The most important skill you can gain is knowing when to rest mindfully. Your well-being depends on your mind and body working efficiently and in harmony.
