Awaken your day by noticing the thoughts moving through your mind. Our thoughts predict our feelings. When we experience negative thoughts, we probably don’t feel great. Conversely, when we experience positive thoughts, we’re likely feeling pretty good. By slowing down your mind, you can become aware of your thoughts and feelings in the moment. This is mindfulness.
Aware
When you can observe your mind slowing down, or through a practice of meditation, you begin to notice your patterns of thinking. Our thoughts reflect our reality, which in turn reflects our personality. You can align your thoughts with your goals by cultivating an awareness of who you want to be and where you want your mind to settle.
Align
It’s crucial to notice your thinking patterns and take action, especially if your mood and emotions aren’t doing well. Thinking positively or seeing the good in things can develop neuroplasticity in your brain. By practicing positive thinking, you deepen the grooves of your neural pathways. It’s like lifting weights; the more you think positively, the more it becomes a default mechanism for your brain. Aligning your day with positive thoughts can go a long way!
Activate
Surround yourself with positive and uplifting things. Your environment matters. Read books that make you happy, as your brain needs nutritious fuel. Positive affirmation meditation can help reframe your thoughts. Listen to podcasts that promote joy or celebrate someone else’s success story. Write a daily journal about everything you’re grateful for in your life. Place positive thoughts and quotes on sticky notes and put them on your mirror or computer, wherever you frequently look. The more you practice, the easier it is to activate your brain, and the better you become at it.
