Good Morning Wake Up – Awake Week 1

Dear Friend,

Awake

Good morning! Have you ever pondered why every day may start to feel the same?

Our subconscious mind is highly active in the mornings until we awaken our conscious mind, allowing us to notice everything around us. We develop habits and patterns that shape our daily routines. These habitual programming patterns often lead us to repeat the same actions as the previous day. Until we awaken our conscious awareness, we can expect this repetitive pattern to govern our lives.

Aware

Recognizing our patterns will help us understand our dependence on our daily routines. Familiar tasks like using the bathroom and brushing our teeth are predictable. Common threads in our lives include making coffee or showering to wake up, preparing school lunches, or feeding ourselves with little conscious awareness.

Align

When seeking a change from the same thought or behavior, we must significantly shift our patterns of thought and behavior. To experience something new, we must modify our habits.

Identify where you want to change a pattern, behavior, thought, or feeling. Begin by reflecting on how you start your day. Create a list of your morning behaviors. Have you tried breaking a coffee habit or exercising your body before work? Can you notice where you can align your focus to effect change?

Activate

Activating your new mornings may include:

  • Leaving your phone plugged in and resisting the urge to reach for it while still in bed. Instead, practice breathwork or journaling.
  • Brushing your teeth with your non-dominant hand or balancing on one foot while brushing the upper teeth, then on the other foot for the lower teeth.
  • Expressing gratitude for the food you fuel your body with. Incorporating berries, proteins, grains, and nuts into your daily diet. These foods provide endurance for muscle and brain health throughout the day.

Change may feel different, but consistently activating something new will make you feel at home and connected to yourself!

Activate Practice of the Week

Journaling

Take a moment to consider each prompt below and journal your thoughts. Then practice activating the new ways of being you’ve envisioned for yourself.

  1. What is the difference between your subconscious and your conscious mind?
  2. Write down 10 things that have become a habit or pattern of living in your life.
  3. If you could change one of these patterns or habits, what would it be and why?
  4. How would it feel to make this change?
  5. How might this shift change who you are?

With continued activation and practice, you can learn to rewire your brain, patterning your behavior, mind, thoughts, and emotions around this new change or behavior as if it has already happened. This process of neuroplasticity is how our neural pathways are deepened. Remember, where the mind goes, energy flows. You’ve got this!
