Life Skills that Last – Exploring Integrity
Awake
Last week, we explored curiosity—the practice of asking questions, staying open, and discovering who we are becoming. This week, we continue that journey by exploring integrity. Integrity is the bridge between knowing ourselves and living in alignment with who we want to become. It is built through reflection, intentional choices, and the daily practice of aligning our thoughts, feelings, values, and actions.
Integrity begins with self-awareness. It is the ability to notice our values, recognize our choices, and reflect on whether our actions align with what matters most to us. Every experience gives us an opportunity to learn more about ourselves and strengthen the connection between who we are and who we are becoming. Integrity is not something we achieve once—it is a lifelong practice of becoming our best selves.
Aware
Integrity is more than being honest with others; it is being honest with ourselves. It means living according to our values, keeping our commitments, and making choices that reflect our beliefs—even when no one is watching. Through self-awareness and self-management, we can pause and ask:
Does this choice reflect who I want to be?
Are my actions aligned with my values?
When our thoughts, feelings, and actions are in alignment, we build trust within ourselves and with others.
Align
Living with integrity requires practice. Life will always present challenges, uncertainty, and moments when the easiest choice may not be the most aligned choice. Through reflection, accountability, and compassion, we learn from our experiences and continue refining who we are. Over time, integrity becomes embodied—it moves from something we practice into something we naturally live.
Activate
Integrity Reflection Practice
Take a moment to reflect:
- What values are most important to me?
- Where do my actions consistently reflect what I believe?
- What lesson have I learned that I have not yet fully integrated?
- What daily practice would help me embody what I know?
Integrity in Movement
Practice a sequence that represents alignment, strength, and intention:
Option 1:
- Plank
- Upward-Facing Dog
- Downward-Facing Dog
Option 2:
- Warrior I
- Warrior II
- Warrior III
As you move, notice:
How do my thoughts, breath, and body work together when I move with intention?
Now Affirm
I live in alignment with my values. My thoughts, words, and actions reflect who I am and who I am becoming. Each choice is an opportunity to strengthen my integrity and live authentically.
