Seventh Inning Stretch – Desire, Passion and Goals

Dear Friend,

Awake

Desire awakens dreams, passion energizes them, and goals shape them! The outcome becomes a roadmap to experiencing, learning, and growing. It is always our work to practice non-attachment, non-clinging, and letting go. The biggest challenge we face is how to stay in the game, go the distance, maintain motivation, and let go simultaneously. Suppose we recognize that our purpose is to have experiences, engage with people, and challenge ourselves to move beyond our comfort zones, expand our awareness, and increase our capacity for understanding and empathy. In that case, we are on the path to a full life and the ability to go the extra mile.

Aware

In the 7th inning, we may feel bored, distracted, lack direction, or be completely exhausted. This is when we turn inward and check in with our greater purpose and true desires. Desire awakens the dreams that reside within us. Daydreaming isn’t inherently harmful if it can lead us to achieving our goals. Working from a plan fueled by passion and knowing the end game is the best way to stay on track and complete what we started. When our day begins aligned with what we desire to create, we remain motivated to reach our goals. Emotions drive our passion, so we should continue to stay connected to our thoughts and how they make us feel.

Align

Alignment is essential. Tuning into our desires means we learn to quiet ourselves and listen to our hearts, understanding what we truly desire, and then define the steps forward to achieve our goals. Self-reflection, journaling, and meditation are all tools that can help us gain insights into ourselves. The key is to quiet the noise and constant chatter both inside and outside our minds. Sitting with ourselves takes practice. Learning about our thinking patterns, understanding their impact on us, and determining how to execute our plan are crucial steps that can help us stay passionate and fulfill our dreams.

Activate

Dream big and ensure it aligns with your capabilities. Set small goals as they lead to cumulative achievements. Making progress towards your goals is crucial. Questions like “Am I capable of achieving what I dream of?” are important to contemplate. Your energy and vibration play a role here. Affirm that your dreams resonate with your identity, abilities, and reality. Your thoughts and feelings should align with every step of your desired outcome. Sit and contemplate, create a concrete plan, align with your big vision, and then live out your dreams. This is how we achieve our goals!

Journaling

Take a moment to ponder the prompts below. Choose the questions that speak to you the most, and journal your thoughts.

  • What do I find myself daydreaming about most often?
  • If money, time, and fear weren’t factors, what would I choose to do?
  • What do I want more of in my life right now? What do I want less of?
  • When do I feel most alive, free, or at peace?
  • What activities make me lose track of time?
  • What topics could I talk about for hours without getting bored?
  • When was the last time I felt deeply excited, curious, or “in the zone”? What was I doing?
  • Who inspires me, and what about their life or work lights me up?
  • If I had to teach or share something with others, what would it be?
  • Looking at my desires and passions, what themes or patterns do I notice?
  • What small, achievable step could I take this week to move closer to what I want?
  • If I imagine myself one year from now, living more aligned with my passions, what would look different?
  • What longer-term vision do I hold for myself in three to five years?
  • Which goal excites me most—and which one feels most important to begin now?
